Explorers of the Emporium Summer Camp: free creative workshops for children at Phantasmagoria, Ashton-under-Lyne
Year Six and Year Seven students in Tameside are invited to join the Explorers of the Emporium Summer Camp in August.
Explorers of the Emporium will have the opportunity to explore creative writing, visual arts and making, and dance and film.
Would-be Explorers can either choose their tribe for the intrepid adventure – or join the full Summer Camp across the week.
- Inspired by the strange new world of the Emporium, Scribes will take up their pens to create magical new worlds and characters: Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 August, 10am-4pm
- Exploring imaginative play and visual arts, Cartographers will create their very own new board game: Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 August, 10am-4pm
- Using dance and movement, Anthropologists will create and film a new dance for the Emporium: Friday 6 and Saturday 7 August, 10am-4pm
Ashton-under-Lyne’s very own infamous Magical Travel Emporium, Phantasmagoria, in the Clarence Arcade on Stamford Street, will be the starting point for all three intrepid adventures.
All workshops are free to attend, but to remain COVID safe and secure, places are very limited. All would-be Explorers are invited to book now, via Eventbrite:

Participants should bring their own lunches, snacks and bottled drinks, but there will be bottled water available at Phantasmagoria.
The programme is being delivered by Phantasmagoria, Born and Bred Dance Theatre and Mossley Writers, all of whom have extensive experience working with young people and delivering fun and engaging arts activities.
Part of the Bubble Up initiative, the brainchild of North West arts organisation, Curious Minds, the aim of the workshops is to provide additional space and creative attention to 10–12-year-olds who are about to or have just made the transition to secondary school.
